Good news podcasters! Spotify announced that the platform allows video podcasts via podcast hosting platform Anchor.

The music distribution company announced earlier this week that podcast creators can now submit video podcasts which were previously only accessible to select podcasts during the beta stages of the feature.

What does this mean for podcast creators?

This means that if your podcast is hosted on Anchor (Spotify’s podcast hosting platform), you can submit the visuals of your show and people will not be able to listen but also watch your podcast in full.

Essentially, Spotify is competing directly with Youtube to entice podcast creators to upload their content onto the app.

If your podcast is hosted on Anchor you will have to sign up to a waitinglist due to high demand for this feature however, Spotify say the feature will be rolled out to all creators in the following months.

You can also monetise your video content via Spotify podcast subscriptions by uploading exclusive videos/content for your fans/listeners to indulge.

How do I upload my video podcast to Spotify/Anchor?

To upload your video podcast to Spotify/Anchor you will need to create an account with Anchor (and no Anchor doesn’t own your content).

Simply log in to your anchor account-> click new episode-> click upload a pre-recorded video or audio file (you can record a new audio right there in the app/ web browser) -> save episode.

Next, you’ll want to give your episode a title and description -> click publish.

And viola! Your listeners/fans will now be able to watch your podcast directly through Spotify via Anchor.
